Changes to the Dementia Gateway service pose a real threat to the livelihoods of those living with Dementia and their carers, family and friends. Here we have a selection of comments and feedback from those who have experienced the excellent service provided by the Centre.
Please don’t take my lifeline!
Gateway was priceless for use a s a family when my dad had dementia. He loved it so much and bought him happiness in a very dark lonely time.
We would have been lost without the centre and wonderful staff. It made my husband so happy.
The day care provision is an absolute lifeline to my elderly Uncle and provides crucial respite for my Aunt.
This service has made such a difference to our lives
This centre was a lifeline for my mum when my father was diagnosed with Dementia. It gave her the break she needed to carry on caring for my dad at home. If he had not had this facility, he would have gone into a care home years before, at a cost to the Local Authority.
This is a god send to send my mom to on a Monday. Since we lost my dad she lives alone with dementia. This gives her chance to socialise
The centre has been a godsend to my 93 year old Mum over the past 18 months, and with an ageing population, it's much more likely that this invaluable service is going to be needed more NOT less!
This service really helps my grandad who suffers with dementia and is also a big help to my nan who cares for him. It would really affect our family and so many other families with loved ones who use this service!
Please save this centre my husband goes there, he loves it and the staff are amazing. It also gives me a few hours break from 24/7 care
This service was vital for my mom & family when no other assistance is available. It’s an absolute necessity to keep going.
A wonderful service that I receive from the Outreach Team
An invaluable service that helped my Dad through his difficult diagnosis of Lewey Body Dementia.
As my mom has dementia and places/ services are always hard to fine. They have been a great help to me and my family.
The gateway offers me so much support and stimulation
Crystal Gateway is a fabulous place and like no other. I started taking my Mum aged 88 who has vascular dementia - it finally felt as if I had some support and help dealing with this dreadful disease.
It’s such a lonely, hard struggle dealing with dementia on your own, without any help.
The centre is just brilliant, a breath of fresh air and all of the staff have hearts of gold. There is no way that it should not be funded - it is so vital and important. Especially for people like me trying their hardest to care for a loved one with dementia.
All of the time the centre was busy and full of others in my situation.
Dementia is only getting worse and more and more people are suffering. People desperately need these facilities please don’t take away the funding.
